An important update from the Leadership Team at Shabbat Shel Shalom Messianic Fellowship
Shalom, everyone!
At Shabbat Shel Shalom Messianic Fellowship, we believe that growing together in faith begins with understanding God's Word, strengthening relationships, and sharing a common foundation of beliefs and commitments.
As we look toward 2027, we are preparing for a new chapter in the life of our fellowship. We would like to share an important update regarding our Torah Class and introduce an exciting new learning opportunity currently being developed for our community.
An Important Update: Torah Class Paused for the Remainder of 2026
Following a recent change in our teaching leadership, our regular Torah Class will be paused for the remainder of 2026.
After thoughtful discussion and consideration, the Shabbat Shel Shalom Board has decided to use this period as an opportunity to develop a new educational program that will serve both newcomers and existing members of our fellowship.
While we recognize that many have appreciated the opportunity to gather for Torah study, we believe this transition provides a meaningful opportunity to strengthen our shared understanding of who we are, what we believe, and how we live out our faith together.
Please note: Our regular Shabbat worship services and fellowship activities will continue as usual. Only the Torah Class is being paused during this transition.
Coming in Early 2027: Introducing Shabbat Shel Shalom
We are pleased to announce the development of a new class:
Introducing Shabbat Shel Shalom
Scheduled to begin in early 2027, this class will provide an introduction to the identity, beliefs, values, and community life of Shabbat Shel Shalom Messianic Fellowship.
Whether you are exploring Messianic faith for the first time, have recently begun attending our gatherings, or have been part of our fellowship for many years, this class is being designed to help you better understand the spiritual foundation and shared commitments of our community.
Our desire is to create a welcoming learning environment where individuals can explore important questions, gain a deeper understanding of our fellowship, and discover what it means to grow together as a community of believers in Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus the Messiah).
What Will the New Class Teach?
The curriculum for Introducing Shabbat Shel Shalom is currently under development.
It will focus on two foundational documents that help define the beliefs and community commitments of our fellowship.
1. Our Affirmations of Faith
Our Affirmations of Faith express the essential theological beliefs that guide Shabbat Shel Shalom Messianic Fellowship.
Understanding these affirmations helps individuals become familiar with the biblical and spiritual foundations upon which our community is built.
Through this part of the class, participants will have an opportunity to explore the convictions that shape our identity as a Messianic fellowship, our understanding of Scripture, and our shared faith in Yeshua the Messiah.
The goal is not simply to become familiar with a written statement of faith, but to better understand how our beliefs shape our worship, teaching, relationships, and daily lives.
2. Our Community Covenant of Privileges and Responsibilities
Faith is lived out not only through personal belief but also through our relationships with one another.
Our Community Covenant of Privileges and Responsibilities helps articulate the shared commitments that support a healthy, caring, and spiritually grounded fellowship.
As part of the new class, participants will be introduced to this covenant and its role in shaping our life together.
This will provide an opportunity to reflect on the importance of mutual respect, spiritual growth, community participation, and the responsibilities that accompany belonging to a faith community.
By understanding both our privileges and responsibilities, we hope to encourage a deeper sense of connection, belonging, and shared purpose.
Why Are We Introducing This New Class?
Every faith community benefits from opportunities to revisit its foundations, communicate its vision, and welcome individuals who desire to learn more.
As Shabbat Shel Shalom continues to serve its congregation and the wider community, we recognize the importance of providing a clear introduction to our identity and beliefs.
The new class is being developed with several purposes in mind:
Welcoming newcomers: Helping individuals who are unfamiliar with Shabbat Shel Shalom understand our fellowship, beliefs, and community life.
Strengthening our existing community: Providing an opportunity for current attendees to deepen their understanding of our shared foundations.
Building unity through understanding: Encouraging a common understanding of the beliefs, values, and commitments that guide us.
Encouraging spiritual growth: Creating opportunities for reflection, learning, and meaningful conversations about faith.
Preparing for the future: Establishing a foundation that can support continued fellowship, discipleship, and community development.
Above all, we want individuals to feel informed, welcomed, and encouraged as they grow in their understanding of Shabbat Shel Shalom.
Who Is the Class For?
Introducing Shabbat Shel Shalom is being designed for both newcomers and those already connected with our fellowship.
You may find this class particularly meaningful if you:
Are curious about Messianic faith and want to learn more about our fellowship.
Have recently started attending Shabbat Shel Shalom.
Want to better understand our Affirmations of Faith.
Would like to learn about our Community Covenant of Privileges and Responsibilities.
Have attended for some time but would welcome an opportunity to revisit our foundations.
Are seeking a deeper understanding of our community's vision and purpose.
You do not need to have all the answers before beginning to explore a faith community. Questions, learning, and meaningful conversations can be an important part of spiritual growth.
